Re: The Thread For Movies
Well, S Craig Zahler's new one "Dragged Across Concrete" was on Redbox, so I rented it and watched it last night. It's definitely a Zahler movie: slow, with lots of strange and quirky dialogue, and punctuated with brief, explosive violence. I'd say it's a little bit slower even than his other two movies, and definitely longer. I think it's my least favorite of his, but I still enjoyed it and if you liked either Bone Tomahawk or Brawl in Cell Block 99, you should like this.

^Cool. It looks really great though I'm trying to be more careful about watching flicks with much sex/nudity. Was it pretty clean in that regard?
While shopping for food at Grocery Outlet yesterday, I perused their $0.99 Blockbuster* DVDs and found The Host. Has anyone seen it? I've heard it's very good and have recently enjoyed a few other Korean flicks like The Wailing and Train To Busan so I thought I'd give it a try.
*They've got a ton of old Blockbuster rental DVDs in cardboard sleeves for super cheap. Some good ones too: I found a few Cronenberg flicks, for example.

There is a scene in the very beginning, yes, comparable to the one scene that I remember from Bone Tomahawk. Have you seen Brawl yet? That one has none whatsoever.

Gotcha, thanks. Haven't seen Brawl yet but hope to one of these days... I see movies very rarely and that's not one the wife would enjoy so it'll have to be an evening she's tired and I'm not haha.

I watched The Ritual on Netflix last night. Adam, I assume you've seen it? I thought it was good but not great. It was quite eerie and suspenseful in parts, though like most horror flicks, sorta fell apart towards the end at the big reveal, etc. That being said, the ending was pretty decent, though a bit formulaic and goofy.

Yeah, I've seen it. Pretty much what I thought about it, too.

Right on. I didn't realize until I looked on IMDB that the main guy was in Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End so that's kinda fun!

Hey Adam (or anyone else), have you seen Errementari: The Blacksmith And The Devil?

I assume yes so I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it! I haven't seen it but have heard good things...

I actually haven't yet, but it's one that I've had my eye on and thought it looked interesting. I'll have to check it out.

I'm shocked! Well you'll probably get to see it before I do so I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it.

I have been a HUGE Star Wars fan since I was a kid. I am really looking forward to the new The Mandalorian TV series and to some extent, Episode IX. I'm still not sure what to think about it after The Last Jedi.

Re: The Thread For Movies
I don't get much time for movies these days but sometimes in the evenings I can watch 15 or 20 minutes here or there. I started watching the Netflix Canadian movie Ravenous (not to be confused with the Guy Pearce classic already mentioned in this thread) and so far it's pretty decent. I'm about halfway through and I'm looking forward to continuing it. There's not much of a plot: just people trying to survive after a zombie apocalypse in rural Canada, but I dig it. There are some pretty tense scenes and the acting is overall quite good.

Re: The Thread For Movies
I finished watching Jeepers Creepers 2 last night. I dunno, I might've enjoyed it more than the first. It's a pretty solid B-horror that's fairly creative and quite a lot of fun. Also, I thought the ending was great too. For those who enjoy that type of movie, I recommend both 1 and 2. I haven't seen the third (which supposedly takes place in between the first two) but it's got pretty bad reviews.
