Faith - Decades Of Despair

Excellent folky epic doom from Sweden! Rumor has it they're working on a new album too - which is fantastic news because IMO each album of theirs is better than the previous.

Oh you should! They're one of the most underrated bands in the scene IMO. I think I got into them with their Blessed? album which is a good starting point if you're new to the band.

All of the albums are on Spotify so I gave them a listen.

Here's my ranking, from most liked to least liked:

Decades of Despair
Salvation Lies Within
Blessed?
Sorg

The cover of "What a Wonderful World" was pretty random. The band is good, and overall I enjoyed the listening experience. I did find the albums somewhat uneven in terms of quality and production. Particularly, Sorg had worse production quality and the more experimental parts didn't fit well (imo). Some of the music reminded me of Veni Domine, which was a bonus.

Right on! Yeah that cover is a bit odd... I think they missed an opportunity of making it a straight-up doom song and instead kept it pretty soft. It's not bad, but a crushing doooooom version would've been better IMO.

I hear ya on Sorg. I don't really care for the growled vocals so much (to my ears they just don't fit with the style) but otherwise I really like the album. It's got some very solid tracks but is a bit more uneven compared to the other albums. That being said, while Salvation Lies Within is more consistent, the songs are all pretty similar, whereas Sorg mixes it up which I like.

I'm currently listening to Salvation Lies Within. Smile
