Listening to Tourniquet's new album today. It's okay, but a lot of it doesn't really sound like the Tourniquet I know and love. Hopefully it will grow on me.

This has always been one of my favorite albums, never gets old. The lyrics to this album are amazingly centered in Christ as well.

This is the only metalcore album I own, and it is pretty good indeed! I do appreciate the bold and Christ-centered lyrics as well. Although the spoken section at the very end always makes me go "huh?" when he says that Jesus needs us just as we need Him. Do you know what that's about? That just never sat well with me.

You're referring to the "Hidden Track," right? I can see why those particular lyrics are a bit off-putting. Obviously, the God of the Universe doesn't "need" any of us. In that part of the song, it seems to be an invitation or altar call. He compares Christ to a brother and father who won't abandon us, so he's focusing on the Father-Son relationship dynamic. In that type of relationship, it's reciprocal, as both people need to pour into it to get something worthwhile out of it. Maybe this is far reaching, but I think he's just saying that God really cares about us, just like a father for his son, and that he won't abandon us like an earthly father might. So "need" for me has the connotation of love in this song. He loves us, just as we love him. At least, that's how I interpret it. It would be interesting to see what the lead singer would say.

^Yup that's what I was referring to. You might be onto something there... but why wouldn't the singer just say it how it is? Especially since it's clearly being spoken to people who are not Christians and therefore wouldn't have that broader understanding of God and His character/existence, why convolute it like this? If it weren't for God and His grace [common and individual], this whole universe would collapse and every one of us would on our way to hell where we belong. We NEED Him desperately. But if you or I ceased to exist, God would still be God: unchanged, complete, and absolutely holy. Anyways, there's probably some good explanation for it, but taken at face value it seems quite unorthodox.

p.s. that Leah song from the Ulterium compilation I mentioned in the other thread just came on haha.
