Re: Introduce Yourself
Hmm...five of my favorite bands:
Grave Declaration (symphonic black/death metal), Crimson Moonlight (black/death metal), Comeback Kid (old-school hardcore punk), Shoujo Byou (symphonic rock), Antestor (black metal)
For metal subgenres, I would say black, melodic death (not a big fan of vanilla death), and power metal along the lines of Theocracy and Dragonforce.

Re: Introduce Yourself
Black metal and power metal...very interesting combination. Although I pretty much listen to every subgenre, so I guess I'm weird like that.
Crimson Moonlight and Antestor are timeless choices. I'm a huge Extol junkie myself. I was very impressed by the last Grave Declaration album, although I think I remember reading that they were working on something that was more traditional bm than symbphonic bm.
I've never heard of Shojo Byou. Are they a Christian band?

Re: Introduce Yourself
I'm way more into black metal than power metal, but since I became interested in Theocracy I've become more interested in power metal. Hoping to discover more good bands.
Yeah, I thought Grave Declaration was working on something too, and Ronny Hansen is supposed to be their vocalist. Haven't heard an update in a while and I guess Ronny has been working on the Sylvan Fortress release, so we might have to wait a while for Grave Declaration.
Shoujo Byou (少女病) is often mistaken to be a Christian band because a cross is the main feature of their logo. I did a fair bit of research into it and could not find any evidence that they are a Christian band. They seem to mostly talk about fantasy themes. I found a blog that had translated most (probably about 75%) of their lyrics and read through them. I think I found something about "standing up to sin" and an occasional reference to God. There was one song called The Forgotten Tetragrammaton which was a bit concerning (and the album cover for that had an inverted cross instead of the usual cross for some reason?) but there didn't seem to be anything else concerning about it. I gave a lot of thought to it and ultimately decided that the band was okay to listen to. I doubt their music would really interest most people around here. I got into them when I was in my "weeaboo" phase, and the music is VERY Japanese, but I still enjoy it a lot today.

Do you already listen to Golden Resurrection?? They are my favorite power/neoclassical metal band. I'm sure you're aware of Signum Regis also. Power metal is not a main interest for me so I only listen to a handful of bands.
And I'm pretty sure EVERYTHING is done with Sylvan Fortress (all instruments/vocals) and has been for a while now and it's just waiting on mixing/mastering. I posted a link to an article in the Christian music section on my post about Sylvan Fortress. I'm VERY stoked for that release but I think it won't release until later this year.

I think I've heard a bit of Golden Resurrection but I don't remember them well. I'll have to check that out again. I own one Signum Regis album and it is pretty good but I want something faster...

Re: Introduce Yourself
I do love me some power metal.
Theocracy is definitely one of the best in the scene. Kreyson is one of my favorite Christian power metal bands, but most of their stuff is not in English, nor is it super fast. You might like Within Silence who are quite good:
Northern Flame is pretty good and they're working on a new album which I'm pretty excited for:
While not a "Christian band," Angra has some pretty explicit Christian themes and their lyrics are clean. You might wanna check them out. They're one of the first metal bands I ever discovered and remain one of my top favorites. Their first two albums are their best IMO but everyone seems to have a different favorite. Also their style has changed a fair bit over the years so I recommend listening to something from each album.
(p.s. I have a couple GR CDs available if you're interested.)

Re: Introduce Yourself
Hello everyone. My name is Julio Cesar. I am 33 years old.
I live in Manaus in northern Brazil. In the middle of the Amazon rainforest. I was born in a Christian home, but certain choices kept me out of the way. And thank God I'm back today. I am married, I have two children. My favorite metal strands are Power metal,Black metal(Including several subgenres of extreme music) and thrash metal. This forum has been a real haven for me. With excellent band tips. This is my hobby: MEETING NEW BANDS. I almost missed the opportunity to introduce myself, but it is there.

Re: Introduce Yourself
Welcome Julio! I think you'll fit in here quite well. We're glad to have you here!
What are some bands you were most excited to meet? I'd also love to hear what some of your favorite local/Brazilian bands are.

I was very happy to meet the band Melech and Epta astera, bandas de excelente qualidade.
There are a lot of good bands around here, I don't know how the Brazilian metal scene is seen abroad, but I'm sure you must know the band Antidemon. Here is my recommendation. But I will leave other bands, which are worth listening to.
Stauros, dynasty,Divine Symphony, angel's fire, soul factor, azorrague, destra, eterna. Listen and then tell me what you think.

Re: Introduce Yourself
Hi, I'm 27 I've been part of the forum for a quite a few years I just haven't posted for a while. My favourite styles of metal are technical death metal and atmospheric black metal, which unfortunately seems to be a bit limited in the Christian scene so have been listening more to secular bands lately. I'm currently trying to get a Christian Technical Death metal band going (https://www.facebook.com/Habakkukband), I will have a 2 song ep released hopefully by the end of this month

That's awesome, I wish you the best of luck! It's a pretty small world, because I actually have an aunt and uncle who live in New Zealand. My aunt is originally from the U.S. but she married a Kiwi! I've never been to New Zealand before, but maybe one day I will be able to go and visit them.

I've got most of them listed on facebook page, but a few of them are Aborted, Benighted, Cattle Decapitation, Cryptopsy, Cytotoxin and Deivos. I haven't really come across any Christian bands that are as good these bands, so hopefully can get a full band together soon
